A colocation facility (also called a colocation centre or carrier hotel) is a type of data center where multiple customers house their servers, networking and data storage equipment. The equipment is then interconnected to a variety of NSPs and protected by a range of security measures and redundancy protocols. By sharing the costs across multiple customers or a facility as a whole, each customer will pay a minimum cost and enjoy greater protection.
